Moog has announced that the Minimoog Model D Synthesizer ($4.99 value) app for iOS devices is available as a free download for a limited time, starting today.
Minimoog Model D Synthesizer is Moog’s official Minimoog app for iOS devices. The app normally costs $4.99 but it can now be download completely free of charge from the App Store. Simply visit the app page and download it to your iPad or iPhone.

This news comes as Moog’s response to the recent Coronavirus outbreak. As you may have heard, several music-related events and trade shows have been cancelled, including Musikmesse 2020 in Frankfurt and Superbooth 2020 in Berlin. According to their official statement, Moog has decided to release one of their most popular iOS virtual instruments as a free download to “spread positivity, creativity, and expressivity.”

I’ve been using the Minimoog Model D Synthesizer app for quite some time now on my iPad and it’s easily one of my favorite virtual synthesizers for the iOS platform. Everything about it is simply stunning, from the surprisingly realistic and analog-sounding synthesis engine to the gorgeous-looking user interface.
In addition to emulating the original Minimoog’s legendary sound character and features, the app offers a bank of over 160 presets, a polyphonic playing mode, a powerful arpeggiator, a handy stereo delay effect, and more. Another highlight is the looping recorder with dubbing functionality, perfect for capturing and sharing your musical ideas. And yes, the old filter overdrive trick is there, too.
